5ive - Hesperus

http://www.mediafire.com/?b4v44eeclmmc3jl

Jeff Caxide from ISIS. post-metal, experimental, sludge. I personally love this album above any of their other releases. Though, they do have a track called "Soma" on their EP Versus which was mixed by Justin Broadrick for all you Godflesh/Jesu nerds. I find it to be super badass while cleaning house or driving. And much like with ISIS, this shit must be turned up high to get that full, awesome, spine-shivering effect.

“5ive shapes tones and experiments with analog waveforms. Our sound has always been described as an organic sound, it has natural truth to it and though it is not always a happy or uplifting message, you cannot deny it.”

Eagle Twin - The Unkindness of Crows

I've been meaning to listen to and review this record again. These guys are awesome. I have kind of slowly been falling off the heavy music scene for a minute, with sporadic indulgences here and there. But I assure you that listening to this album has somewhat brought it back to me. Instead of reminiscing in the old ways of heavy, the familiar ones, I am finding new music that is heavy and weighs heavy with emotion as well. This is my perfect kind of sludge. Good psychedelic elements tie it all together sooo well. I say heavy a lot, and usually awesome along with that adjective. They just go well. Now, be a good little boy/girl and download this album and listen straight through. No excuses.

Capricorns - Ruder Forms Survive

http://www.mediafire.com/?3mbkxvyyzw2

Okay so something that always catches me is the phrase "heavy riffs". Trust me when I say that enticing phrase, that I have something good for dat ass. This band was a great find for me some time ago, so I am resurrecting this album. With ex-members from the almighty Orange Goblin and Iron Monkey (YES!), this band is guaranteed to not put out anything shitty. It's a new take on instrumental... it's psych heavy without any vocals (with the exception of track 3 which features vocals from Eugene Robinson from Oxbow....sweet), which is rare these days. The first track immediately reeled me in...the heavy breathing going into a super catchy headbang. Steady and placed together all too well. Lots of good deep bass groove here as well. This really is a great, under-appreciated album and band. Get you some of this Capricornage.
